New Zealand Ukulele Festival, 1 Dec 2012 Ukulele Acts and Performers

With workshops, stalls, non-stop entertainment over two stages, competitions, the Great Kiwi Uke-Along and give-aways, this year's festival is going to be bigger and better than ever.
New Zealand Ukulele Festival, 1 Dec 2012 Kiwileles Ukulele Ensemble

In 2009 the "Kiwileles" set a new world record for the largest ever ukulele ensemble when 1120 children and teachers played their ukes and sang "Kiwi Ukulele" by Kevin Fogarty.
The 2011 "Kiwileles" will feature over 2000 children and their teachers from over 100 schools across Auckland, Northland and the Waikato. Plus also schools from Dunedin, Palmerston North, Hamilton, and Paeroa.

When the Kiwileles rock their ukes Trusts Stadium will move to a whole new wall of sound!
New Zealand Ukulele Festival, 1 Dec 2012 APRA Uke-Can-Do-It Songwriting Competition.

In the Uke-Can-Do-It Songwriting Competition, the judges will be looking for an original song that features the ukulele, and will select three finalists in each category. Each of the finalists will be invited to perform at the NZ Ukulele Festival at Trusts Stadium, Waitakere, Auckland on December 1st. The winners will each receive a gift pack and a $300 cash prize. The song judged best overall will win a demo recording session provided by MAINZ!

New Zealand Ukulele Festival, 1 Dec 2012 Uke Quest & Uke Art contests

UkeQuest is a brand new competition for Intermediate and Secondary ukulele players Hunting for NZ's top youth ukulele act!

If you've got some slick strums and fancy chords then this is for you! There are great prizes to be won and the chance to play on the main stage at this year's NZ Ukulele Festival. This is a covers comp and is open to soloists or groups. Groups must predominantly feature the talents of at least one ukulele player.

UkeArt is a competition to find the best ukulele artist!

Venue: The Trusts Stadium, 65-67 Central Park Drive Henderson on Saturday 1st December 2012 from 11am till 4pm. Admission is free!
